Depending on you Operating System/Internet Browser, the download will begin automatically or your will be prompted to Run it. Either way you should Run/Open the download.
Next, you may be presented with the dialog below (or similar). Click Yes, to allow the program.
The TeamViewer program should start and begin activating. After a few seconds, "Your ID" and "Password" appear in the dialog below.
Provide these details to the person trying to assist you.
